Seasons
Today, Sunday, we are having the equinox. a day of equal daylight and night. It is place for balance. It is also the first day of Autumn so it is a very transitional time. We are still feeling a little of the summer and just starting to feel the autumn too. This is the time when nature starts to turn inward so to speak. Trees do this by shedding their leaves and in doing so they put up a very colorful show. It is always amazing to me how we go through the same seasons year after year but also every year the way the seasons manifest is different. There is a sense of sameness and newness at the same time.
My teacher used to say that the practice of yoga has its seasons too. The seasons of yoga depend not only on the weather but also our stage in life, the state of our body and mind, our work, etc. We learn to move through it all. Even though we keep coming back to the mat our yoga practice takes on different flavors. There are periods when we feel very energetic in our practice, other times we feel somewhat lethargic, other times we feel our practice is growing so much, other times that it has plateau. We learn to adjust to the seasons and just keep moving along.
I want to invite you to acknowledge, recognize, observe, honor, and learn from wherever you are in your practice.
I look forward to seeing you in class
Blessings
