Opening at the End

Hello to all of you!!!

Yes this is Jorge, the yoga instructor. It has been almost two years since I posted this kind of message. I decided to open this way of communicating with all of you as we get ready to close the summer. In my walks around the city I am seeing some sunflowers that are starting to dry up. There is also the change in the quality and warmth of the sunlight. Autumn is just about to burst forth into color.

As we all get ready for the next season I would like to invite you to notice the changes big and small that are happening around you. Paying attention to these changes allows us to become more connected to our surroundings and to nature even in the middle of the city. Over time we learn how nuanced these changes are and in doing so we become more intimate with nature whether we live in the country or the city.

This is something that we have been practicing in yoga class for the last couple of weeks. I am always encouraging you to pay attention to how the poses affect your body and your breath, and how they in turn react to the poses. As we pay attention to this we get to know our breath and body more intimately. You learn to have this wordless conversation with your body and breath. You become very close friends with them. This relationship just like any other takes effort, attention, and time.

I look forward to seeing you in class this week as we continue to explore paying attention in our yoga practice.

Blessings

Jorge Nihal
