Self Care

Given the current state of affairs ... chamomile tea anyone? We would need gallons and gallons but hey whatever it takes. Self care has become very important in the middle of all the things that all of us are going through everywhere in the world. I was visiting a friend over the weekend and he pointed out how essential is to get together ... safely of course. We don't have to get together with one hundred people but we can take a walk with one friend and talk about everything and nothing.

So what can you do to help you experience that you are taking care of yourself? This could be a great way to get to know yourself too. You can discover what brings you back to feeling more grounded in yourself and at ease. Here are some suggestions for you:

  • Take a walk with someone

  • Watch your favorite TV show (Watching "The Nanny" is a guilty pleasure of mine. Don't judge me)

  • Practice Yoga with an attitude of self care

  • Meditate

  • Prepare your favorite meal (I made raviolis from scratch the other day. It was so much fun)

  • Clean the space where you live. It may be more of a personal thing but this is very meditative for me)

  • Read a book

  • Set aside time to listen to soothing music or music you like without doing something else at the same time

  • Set a few minutes aside to just listen to your breath

  • Take a bath

  • Pray or have an inner conversation with whatever you hold highest.

  • Dance like no one is watching. This may be easier to do if you live by yourself :)

  • Take care of or help someone

  • Go near a body of water (river, ocean, lake). Water is so calming and soothing


There is really no end to this list so have fun finding your own way. I do want to point out that taking care of ourselves is not bypassing what is currently going on. Self care at this time is a remembrance that even though things are intense at many levels right now there is still a place for lightness.
